“I personally consider it my direct duty – not only to transfer knowledge and experience to the future stars of musical Olympus, but also to surround them with care and support, in the same way our great teachers at the Moscow Conservatory and the Central Special School of Music once did for me” – the brilliant violinist Igor Ruhadze is joining our team as the Artistic Advisor.
In October 2019 Igor led the project “Hidden Gems of Russian Romantic Music” and has helped SBJT a lot with artistic advice ever since. We are looking forward to extend our relationship and discover many more beautiful gems togeher.
About Igor Ruhadze
Igor was born in Moscow and started his career as a solo violinist at the age of 12, performing Vieuxtemps Violin concerto no. 5 with The Odessa symphony orchestra. Later, he graduated Cum Laude from the Moscow State P.I.Tchaikovsky Conservatory as solo violinist. In 2002 he graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory Cum Laude as a specialist in early music. Since 1999 Igor resides in the Netherlands. Igor Ruhadze is a prizewinner of several international violin competitions, such as Locatelli International Violin competition in Amsterdam, Taneyev International Chamber Music Competition in Russia and “Musica Antiqua” competition in Brugge.
Since 1996, he was teaching solo violin at the Moscow Conservatory and the Moscow Central music school, and in 2002 became a baroque violin teacher as well. In 2006, Igor Ruhadze worked as a guest teacher at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He Igor frequently appears at festivals with a variety of solo recitals, including the Tartini program for unaccompanied violin in the Flanders Festival, “Russian Tartini – Handochkine” in New York – just to name a few. Besides, he is a permanent concertmaster of Musica Antiqua St. Petersburg ensemble and The Bach orchestra of the Netherlands, regularly performing tours nationwide with as a soloist. His recording of the Bach’s “Mathew’s Passion” took part in the Dutch movie “Erbarme Dich” by director Ramón Gieling. Igor also plays in chamber ensembles and leads the group “Violini Capricciosi”. His collaboration with Brilliant Classics gave several successful results: the unique Complete Locatelli Edition 21 CD got a lot of excellent reviews. His last Complete Biber Violin Sonates impressed the public with warm tone and virtuoso playing on scordatura violins.
