MOSCOW MEETS FRIENDS 2018

Moscow meets friends 2018

Moscow Meets Friends is the yearly international festival organized by the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation, aimed to give the young talents from all over the world an exceptional opportunity to perform on the best concert stages of Moscow. This year, 3 musicians from the Young Talents School of the Royal Conservatory in the Hague took part in this international initiative.

The Project

Every year festival Moscow Meets Friends welcomes young participants unders the age of 18 to perform on the most prestigious podia in Moscow. Since 2016, Dutch young talents regularly take part in this festival, organized by the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity foundation, established by one of Russia’s most celebrated conductors in May 1994.

Pallavi, Jure and Lola spent 6 days in Moscow: they played 2 concerts, took master-classes from famous professors at the legendary Moscow Gnessin Special School of Music and, of course, enjoyed the city!

The Vrubel Hall of the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery was open in 1995 after a complete restauration – this was especially constructed to house the masterpiece “Princes of Dreams”. The science of acoustics was not disregarded when the hall was taking shape, and due to the excellent sound it quickly became one of the most favourite podia of the chamber musicians.

The joint performance with the students of the Moscow Gnessin Special School of Music was called “The Concert of Friendship”, celebrating their school’s long-standing cooperation with the Netherlands. 5 young musicians from Russia joined the 3 Dutch colleagues on stage of the Organ Hall. This initiative takes the artistic collaboration between the Dutch and Russian young musicians one step further, strengthening the ties and reinforcing the musical friendships between them. As Lola Jurakić said: “I really loved Moscow, hopefully I will have the opportunity to visit and perform here again”.

This kind of projects offers the students a unique opportunity to work together and to learn from each other on an international level. It enhances their individual artistic development and stimulates their international careers in a long-term sustainable way” – commented Jan van Bilsen, Principal of the Young Talents School of the Royal Conservatory in the Hague.
