YOUNG TALENTS IN THE CONCERTGEBOUW - Part II

From heart to heart: poetry, passion and romance by the sisters Pedano and Jorian van Nee.

Stichting Bevordering Jong Talent will treat the audience to a varied program with a narrative charm presented by three young, very talented musicians. Romanticism with the oboe and viola in the leading role, the poetry of song, Argentinian passion with a personal touch and unforgettable French chansons.

On Friday May 17th 2024 Anuschka Pedano (viola), Maria Pedano (hobo, soprano) and Jorian van Nee (piano) will bring this unique combination of lyrical melodies, passionate tangos and unforgettable chansons.

Next to this, a world premiere of ‘Romance for Viola and Piano’, a piece by the young Dutch composer and pianist Jorian van Nee, will take place in the Chamber Hall of the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.

The Pedano Sisters

Talent just happens abundantly in some families - the sisters Anuschka and Maria Pedano are a perfect example of that. Maria (on the left), a gifted oboist with deep, colourful tone, is also a touching singer. Already known for her masterful interpretations of French chanson (the won the Concours de la Chanson in Paris in 2018), she studies classical singing at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and, as a young soprano, immerses herself in the poetic song repertoire. Anuschka (on the right) is a passionate violist with a unique sound, praised for her great depth and refinement. The sisters form an unforgettable and expressive duo! They are first-prize winners of many (international) competitions, including the British Competition, the Princess Christina Competition and the Gnessin Competition in Moscow. In honour of Princess Irene's eightieth birthday, they performed together with Herman van Veen in Carré, as well as on major stages abroad such as the Victoria Hall in Singapore or the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. They presented their own musical play ‘Sisters’ at the Grachtenfestival in 2022 and were several times guests on the Podium Witteman TV program.

World premiere by Jorian van Nee

Jorian van Nee is a promising pianist. Not only does he excel in chamber music and song repertoire, but also proved to be a great composer. For him, playing the piano and composing go hand in hand. He wrote this ‘Romanze for Viola and Piano’ in 2021 and dedicated it especially to Anuschka. This modern romantic piece with a hint to Bruch's Romanze will be performed for the first time in the Chamber Hall of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam - the world premiere.
