Thea was born in 2003 and started to play double bass at the age of four because she always loved low tones.The instrument of her choice had to be louder and bigger than her brother´s violin.

She won first prizes at the BASSEUROPE Youth Competitions 2010 in Berlin and 2014 in Amsterdam/Almere. Also in 2014 Thea had her debut as a soloist with the Jugendsinfonieorchester Aachen.

In 2016 she took part in the German youth competition “Jugend musiziert” (category “Double Bass Solo”) and won first prizeson the regional and state levels, as well as in the nationwide competition. The following year Thea was awarded withthe first prize in the Youth Competition of the “International Society of Bassists” in Ithaca, New York.

After studying for a year in the junior program of the “Robert Schumann Hochschule” in Düsseldorf, she was admittedto the the pre-bachelor program at the CvA where she started her studies in September 2019.

Apart from playing the acoustic double bass Thea plays the electric bass (in the school band) and is interested innatural sciences such as mathematics and physics. Her last physics paper was awared with a prize by the“Dr. Hans Riegel-Stiftung”, Bonn.
